Two children with serious incurable disease in one family is very challenging for loved ones and takes a lot of courage. In order to breathe, eat and stay alive, 7 years old Diana and 2 years old Melanie
are in need of enormous amount of medicines that cost around 40000 grivnas a month.
All these medicines are literally vital. Girls have cystic fibrosis – severe genetic disease that damages the lungs and digestive system. Although the disorder is overly complicated, people with this condition are able to live for few decades. Mandatory condition is a complete and continuous therapy that consists of physical therapy and medicines intake, active life style, which wouldn’t be possible without medicines.
Girls are doing great. Unfortunately, Diana has a difficult case of cystic fibrosis and her body is greatly affected by it. In her 7, she has to use oxygen device that helps her affected lungs to function and helps her to sleep at night. However, despite all difficulties, she attended the first grade along with other children, she takes the dancing classes, travels for the competitions and doesn’t even think to stop.
Melanie is growing and developing fast since her mother is informed with all the necessary information how to take care of a child with the special needs by doing it for her older daughter. Little one is learning to speak now, she really likes to play with her older sister, and when Diana is doing her homework, Melanie is trying to help her, she really likes to write in those workbooks.
